GHOST OF THE FOREST – GREAT GRAY OWL

 

Owls are mostly nocturnal – hunting primarily at night.  Some hunt in the very early part of the day and later evening … especially if they have 2-4 young ones in the nest to feed.  Great Gray Owls are North America’s largest owl, standing just over two feet high, with a mask that makes it easily one of the most beautiful birds of prey.  I’ve been lucky enough to photograph these owls numerous times in Jackson Hole over the years.  It’s always a thrill and an honor!  This is definitely one of my favorites.
